Concentration Area in Sustainable System


The Postgraduate Program in Sustainability (PSU), academic master degree, was approved by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) in interdisciplinary area on January, 2017. It was proposed by State University of Maringa and The Federal Institute of Parana – Umuarama Campus in associated modality.

The program aims to produce interdisciplinary knowledge through the development of researches and studies which contribute for the sustainability knowledge evolution. Besides, it promotes the knowledge dissemination and academic/scientific exchange among researchers and professionals of Agrarian Sciences, Exact Sciences, Biological Sciences and Common areas, and it qualifies teachers and researchers to perform in public and private educational, research and extension institutions to solve problems and to develop sustainability area proposals.

The PSU is formed by teaching and research activities which aim a professional training with systemic and integrated view in sustainability with abilities and interdisciplinary competencies for a problem approaches involving different disciplinary focus. It permits to use science and technology to help society and supporting political opportunities for an economic and sustainable development.

Among the objectives of the Master course in sustainability, it is highlighted, besides the knowledge production, the study on different technology use and sustainable practices, as well as the acquisition of natural products, applied to the student and researcher qualification and formation. In this way, it is seen the possibility of involving the interdisciplinary and innovative applied search in issues related to the inappropriate use of the natural resource and in technologic development to take advantages of the natural products to be applied in their own sustainable management.
